First Baseball Scrimmage

So I finally got this post finished (only because soccer was cancelled due to rain so Rylee and I are here alone while the boys are practicing baseball yet again!). These pictures are from the baseball scrimmage (first one) that Davis had on Tuesday night. We scrimmaged Daniel's 8U team (which 4 of Davis' friends he has played with in the past were on). This was the first time I have actually been to see Davis' team play...I am just sad no one I know is on the team from last year because we had SO much fun with those guys...boo hoo hoo. I was expecting the worse and was actually surprised that they were half way decent (good may be too much credit). According to Amy, we won...I know its bad that I don't know but neither Nicki or I knew and I am not one to ask people I don't know.

I am warning you now...these pictures sure won't win any awards. I took them all through the fence so that is why they look like they do...and most of the time I was facing the sun which is a big no-no. This was Davis warming up...

This was little Hunter...who has actually grown some...he and Davis played together twice...Pirates T-Ball and Eastman Broncos league.

Here is Ethan who was on Davis' team last year but this year he is on East TN Select. Amy - this picture was awesome I just hate that the sun was blinding me! I stilled loved the picture.

...and a close up of Big E catching...love watching him catch! (I didn't get any pictures of Cory catching and I think it was because I had taken my camera to the car when we got that little shower).

Davis batting...all of my pictures were from behind due to where I was sitting. I hate to get up and walk around because then people look at me and we all know how much I hate attention being drawn to me...I have issues I know! Davis is #8 this year...no it's not for Dale Jr. but for Mark Martin...GAG!!! He likes him because of his real dad and no matter how I have tried to sway him...no luck! :o(

Cory was so fun to watch...here he is pitching and he is the spitting image of Daniel Williams!!! I could just squeeze him!

Nicki...who do you think he is looking at...I bet it was either you or Daniel! Cory looked at his mom at least every 2 seconds!!! Adorable...

The windup...(I think that is what it's called???)

Davis started out pitching which shocked me because Duffer had told me he would be in the outfield the whole game. What does he know???? Davis pitched for 3 innings, then played 2nd for 2 and then played short stop. Personally I think he should have only 2 positions so they don't get confused but what do I know???

I put a lot of pictures of Davis pitching because they cracked me up...just check out the expressions he makes!!! Unfortunately this is a trait I passed on to him and I always hated it!!! I usually make faces if I am really concentrating on stuff and people used to tease me constantly for it...I don't want him to go through that!!

He was actually fairly accurate until he got tired...he just needs a little more force behind it.

Oh yes and the tongue hangs out constantly...is he part dog???

I was pretty impressed with him last night. I am not one of those moms that tells my kids they always do great - even if they don't. Yes I support them but I am always honest (according to my co-workers I am too honest BUT when someone wants the truth they ask me). Davis tends to be my lazy child and when he gives it 110% then he is pretty good. The problem is that he doesn't try like he should. And when others are better than him I tell him BUT I also tell him that it is due to the determination and drive...something he lacks. I really miss Daniel, Brian and Mark (coaches from last year) because they were really tough on the boys and I think that is what Davis needs. Some of the parents got upset when their kids got fussed at but we never did...if they were getting fussed at it was for a reason because they certainly got praised when they did well. Davis has never gotten his feelings hurt by this...remember Coach Roger from the Senators...never phases Davis. Right now he has a temporary teacher in his learning center and my friend Cindy told me that Tucker (her son) gets his feelings hurt a lot when she starts screaming at the kids. I asked Davis about it and he just said, "ah, she just gets mad at us sometimes."

Ethan batting...as I look back at these now, it is rather sad that I took more of the opposing team than our own. Those are our friends though and I don't know the parents and kids on our team yet. One mom even talked to Nicki and me, and she didn't have a clue my child was on her team. When I came home and told Duffer (he had left a little earlier than me) he said she even goes to our church and I had never seen her before. I think there are about 6 or 7 of the kids on our team that go to our church.

Riley up to bat....again he was on Davis' team last year. I graduated with his mom, Sandy (and for those who don't know I graduated with Daniel and Nicki also).

Davis in action...still pitching and catching the ball...

...some more faces....I know these are boring to some of you but my family will love these faces!

So it was a long night...we were out there from 5:30 until 9pm. As we were leaving, I almost killed us! I ran the stop sign (not sure why since I have left there about 200 times) going onto Gibson Mill Road and this mustang was coming at the same time. I literally missed him by inches. Duffer had just told me a couple days before that my brakes were getting bad! I shook the entire way home...not quite ready to have my first serious car accident and definitely not with one of my kids in the car!!!

So the Pirates have their first tournament in a couple weeks and I am excited. I love baseball and being outside. Most all of our tournaments except maybe a couple are within the Tri-Cities this year so we should save a lot of money not having to get hotels so often. On the flip side I enjoyed getting out of town so often especially since it is looking like we are going to try to get a house instead of taking a vacation this year. Those of you who know me well know this is going to KILL me not going to the beach!!! The last time I didn't go was when I was 7 months pregnant with Rylee and I was super depressed!!!

T-ball is getting ready to begin also...James is helping Duffer coach so I will enjoy getting to spend some much needed time with the Allen's. We stay so busy these days that we don't get together often enough...it will be like when Ian and Davis played t-ball together!!! :o)

Last thing I wanted to say was thank you to all of you that left extremely nice comments about me on Allison's blog. I really appreciate the comments but honestly I didn't do much. I don't have that much talent because anyone can copy someone else and that is all I do. If you learn just a little bit of HTML, you can copy any one's blog, website...you name it. My dad taught me a long time ago how to do that and he gave me an HTML Code book and I love it. Part of me would like to move into IT at work but they get laid off too often. Still it really made me feel good to hear what you all had to say and I was happy to help Allison. We have been friends since before Jett was born and she has always been a very good friend to me...even made little ole Jett an awesome homemade quilt and matching picture frame when he was born!!!! So Allison if you think I am so talented, at least you can sow....I would LOVE to be able to do that!!! Life is so much better when you are surrounded by great friends!
