So here are the famous turtles I have talked about so much (and the only reason we really went to Hilton Head). There are 5 in there but you can't really see all of them. Davis and Jett are still thinking of names but Duffer's is Peanut, Rylee's is Cohutta (this is from an absolutely hilarious guy from the new season of the Real World!) and mine is Piper.
Last night we went to Petsmart and bought stuff to change the set up (because it was incorrectly done at first as you can see in the picture below with all three kids). We bought that rock looking thing which is actually a super duty filter (the water was staying dirty with the old one) and a heater in one. Duffer also added more gravel so they could climb up out of the water for basking (something red eared slider turtles do to regulate their body temperature). Lastly we bought a live plant and put in there that they can actually eat when they figure it out.
Here are the kids before the transitioning of the new turtles. I guess Jett didn't want his picture taken...who knows what he was doing?? If you look closely at our set up in the tank you can see that we put way too much water and didn't have anything (except the noodles we used temporarily) for them to bask in.
Davis went first to put his turtle into his new home (we brought them home in those little tiny containers so we were transferring them to the aquarium).
Davis' (his was the biggest) going in...
Jett's turn...the kids loved this part (and they ask daily to get the turtles out but we won't let them).
Look at Jett's little one...he is so CUTE!
Rylee's turn...
I think Rylee liked the turtles the best...she almost gave them a concussion at the beach when we bought them (from shaking the container so much)!
Duffer thought I was nuts having to take pictures and really we were just in his way while he was putting the tank together.
This is as close as I got to my turtle because as soon as those legs started going crazy - back and forth - I screamed and wouldn't touch him again!
